Strong background in wireless communication systems (Cellular & WLAN) including security principles and protocols is required. Experience in developing technical material such as technical contributions in wireless and/or security areas at standardization bodies (3GPP, IEEE 802.xx, etc.), and experience in representing companies or research institutes at such standardization bodies is required. HW/SW implementation experience is a strong plus. The candidate is expected to work both independently and in a small team setting, developing innovative architectures, protocols or solutions and to represent the company at standardization bodies.
SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES:
Perform analysis of security protocols and problems, pose solutions, present findings to team members.
Determine, describe and advocate for forward looking technical solutions to security issues in emerging wireless systems.
Participate in R&D planning and influence technical direction of current and planned projects
Attend and monitor standards activities, identify problems, prepare contributions to standards bodies and support the preparation of patent applications
Stay abreast of technical developments and provide guidance and instruction to team members.
Participate in team meetings, solicit input for improvements and disseminate information, including giving technical talks
Some travel required, occasionally international, between company locations, for standards meetings (up to roughly 4-6 times a year), and for other technical forums.
Skills
Strong knowledge of wireless communication systems, security protocols (AKA, EAP, IPsec, SSL/TLS, IKEv2, HTTPS, etc), and cryptographic algorithms
Familiarity with HW/SW specification, design and implementation principles of wireless communication systems, security protocols, and cryptographic algorithms
Notable achievements as an architect of platform level system designs
At least 1 year of experience as a main standardization representative for a company or a research institution, at recognized standardization organizations such as 3GPP (RAN, CT, or SA), 802.11/15/16/20/21, ETSI, ITU-T, OMA, or TCG at working group and/or plenary levels.
Working knowledge of trusted computing technologies, such as those developed at the Trusted Computing Group (TCG)
Minimum Ph.D. or MS plus 3 years relevant experience
ADDITIONAL PLUSES:
Strong experience in implementation of device level functions in hardware and/or firmware, on platforms including those that require use of a real-time OS
Experience with hardware and specifying ASIC/FPGA level design and implementation, together with software programming skills.
Experience in analyzing and designing embedded and/or distributed system architectures to implement advanced security processing functions
Experience of writing system-level patent disclosures in the areas of wireless/cellular communications algorithms or systems, applications, platform, and/or security technologies or protocols.
