Technical Sales Representative
A growing, Torrance-based, international biochemical is seeking a Technical
Sales Representative. The job description, including application

JOB FUNCTION:
The Technical Sales Representative is responsible for circulation of
accurate and correct technical information to customers and for supporting
sales effort through technical education and maintaining currency of
available scientific information.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Address all customer inquiries relating to scientific information,
product application recommendations and technical usage of products.
2. Assist customers in locating technical or scientific information when
appropriate.
3. Track and analyze all customer complaints, identify complaint trends,
recommend process or product improvements to resolve complaint trends and
implement recommended improvements when possible.
4. Identify popular research trends and products specifically relating to
product offering.
5. Identify growth areas and recommend expansion of product offering to
capitalize on purchasing trends.
6. Devise marketing and sales strategy to exploit research trends to
maximize revenue.
7. Procure quality leads for sales force.
8. Participate in new business development activities of research product
lines.
9. Compose and revise technical bulletins, brochures, analytical data sheets
and other customer-focused documentation as needed to maintain absolute
accuracy and effectiveness of information.
10. Propose and participate in design and content of technical marketing
literature.
11. Assist sales force in appropriate literature fulfillment.
12. Advise sales force of sales approach and participate in sales process
whenever needed.
13. Train sales force and other key personnel in basic science required to
interact with customers.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Cross-train on all primary customer service functions and assist Customer
Service group with call overflow.
2. Participate in research manufacturing optimization efforts through
consultation with production scientists or organization programs related to
research-grade materials.
3. Maintain training in all peptide-related fields and expand expertise to
other product offerings as required.
4. Attend critical scientific meetings and conferences to hone expertise as
required.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Minimum B.A. or B.S. in Science field related to product offering, M. Sc.
or Ph. D. preferred.
2. Continuing education as needed to maintain current expertise.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATION:
1. 3-5 years laboratory research experience required.
2. Peptide manufacturing experience a plus.
3. Technical consulting experience a plus.
4. Technical writing experience a plus.
SKILLS:
1. Excellent organizational skills
2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
3. Flexibility in work assignment.
4. Multi-tasking ability required.
5. Motivation to identify service gaps and implement solutions.
